Title: A Head Full of Ghosts

Author: Paul Tremblay

Published: June 2, 2015

Pages: 304

Genre: Horror, Thriller, Mystery

Kid Friendly Rating:  16+ This novel deals with many adult themes: possession, sexual experiences, language, nudity, scary themes, and much more. Make sure your child is mature enough to handle these and read/listen to it for yourself first (it is a great book so you will love it!)

Synopsis:

This book tells the tale of a 14 year old girl (Marjorie) who begins to show signs of possession and the downward spiral the family feels during the incident. The parents try everything to help their daughter during strange events and when medical bills start looming and the father out of a job, they agree to be stars of a TV show called The Possession.  Most of the story is told from the point of view of the younger sister (Merry) who describes things very childlike at times that the creep factor is at a peak. The stories that Marjorie tells are deep and scary and make you feel she is going through something horrible. Once the idea of an exorcism is about to happen things get even more intense.

The book jumps between the story of the Barrett family and the writer that is interviewing Merry 15 years later. There are some interesting blog posts that are in the book too.

Final Thoughts:  I loved this book. It was scary, intense, and everything I was looking for in a horror novel. No wonder my favorite person Stephen King recommended it! I have probably told about 30 people to read it since I finished it!  I would give the book a 9 out of 10. Seriously, give it a read!
