Kid Friendly Rating: In our house we have watched this movie probably 1 million times. I wish I was exaggerating. Our 4 year old watches or wants to watch this daily. Yes there are some swear words (“s–t,” “bulls–t,” “bitch,” “ass,” “bastard,” and “d–k”), some violence (hand-to-hand, explosions, and some guns), and a bit of drinking which appears to make the group drunk. But all-in-all this is a fun movie which will make both adults and kids laugh! Recommend 11+ Click here for the Parent Rating Guide!
Personal Rating: 5 out of 5
Peter Quill (also known as Starlord) takes a mysterious orb that he finds in a ruined planet and tries to sell it but finds out that Ronan (villain bent on genocide) is looking for the orb as well. While trying to find another buyer, Starlord unintentionally gathers a group of misfits one that wants the orb to sell to another buyer (Gamora) and two bounty hunters that want to collect the bounty on Peter’s head (Rocket and Groot). They are also joined by a revenge hungry Drax. Once they discover that inside the orb there lies an Infinity Stone, the Guardians of the Galaxy must now work together in order to save the world from Ronan!
Groot: I am Groot.
Peter Quill: Well that’s just as fascinating as the first 89 times you told me that. What is wrong with Giving Tree here?
Rocket Raccoon: Well he don’t know talkin’ good like me and you, so his vocabulistics is limited to “I” and “am” and “Groot,” exclusively in that order.
Peter Quill: Well I tell you what, that’s gonna wear real thin, real fast, bud.
Gamora: I know who you are, Peter Quill, and I am not some starry-eyed waif here to succumb to your… your pelvic sorcery!
Rocket Raccoon: [about Drax] His people are completely literal. Metaphors go over his head.
Drax the Destroyer: *Nothing* goes over my head…! My reflexes are too fast, I would catch it.
Fun Fact: Vin Diesel recorded all his lines in several different languages, including Russian, Mandarin, Spanish, Portuguese, German and French so that they could use his real voice in the film around the world.
Final Thoughts: This movie is a staple in our house. We watched it all the time and even made the entire family watch it on Christmas day. I cannot even begin to tell you how happy this movie makes my daughter. She wants to be Starlord for Halloween this year and wants her brother to be Rocket. I do not mind that the movie plays constantly either since it makes me laugh every time we watch it. Check it out before you let your children watch, but trust me, you will not be disappointed!
