Pinterest Attempt – Cleaning Your Microwave with Lemon, Vinegar, and Water

I am not one to clean out my Microwave as much as I should.  During a week-long obsession with Pot Pies by my Three year old, we had a few mishaps with pot pies spilling over, exploding, and all around wreaking havoc upon the insides of our poor little microwave.

Microwave is a disaster mess, with pot pie fillings all over.

As you can, see – it’s a disaster.  So, what was I to do?  I hate scrubbing.  I hate soaking.  I always forget about soaking things until several days later and have to re-soak and clean out the new bacteria environment my “cleaning escapade” has created.

So I went to Pinterest and search of a Lemon and water DIY.  Elyntia had mentioned something about this process before, but I couldn’t remember it exactly.  Thanks to Simply Stacie’s article on How to clean your microwave without scrubbing or chemicals, I began my adventure.

First, you need a microwave safe bowl, some lemons cut up, and a little bit of vinegar.

Stick it in your Microwave for 5 minutes and let sit for a few minutes after:

Gross, I know!

I was 100000% skeptical before wiping it off with a damp cloth.  But oh my God, it works.  I stuck the water, lemon, and vinegar concoction back into the microwave for a few more minutes to try to finish getting the crud off of the glass, but this was AMAZING.  Highly recommend it.  Under 10 minutes a clean microwave with little effort!

Mr. Microwave is clean!
