Hello everyone and welcome to week 19 in the quest of a few internet friends who are trying to get healthy! We want to motivate one another and help each other get on the right track by working out, eating right, and reaching a great state of mind in the process. Join us weekly as we share our personal journey’s and stats to show you all that if we can do it, so can you!
Back from vacation this week and let me just say these awesome dumbbells that we bought were PERFECT for the trip. Honestly, I do not know how we would have worked out without them and they have proved to be worth their weight in gold. My husband and I both even stuck to the diet the entire time. Plus when we did have ice cream (a special treat for the kids……not us……maybe) we logged it and worked around it. That is what I really like about this lifestyle of IIFYM, it is flexible. I have lost weight which is great since i was pretty much in a holding pattern since I got sick. I have also added a second leg day this week and am forgoing the Yoga on Monday’s for now so I can fit it in. I would rather hit the gym in the am and skip lunch so I can get these legs in shape! I need to hop back on the elliptical at night though, I have been slacking on that for sure. But you all know I HATE cardio…..OH and my auto tape measure that I was so proud of broke when I took measurements last week. Awesome…….So these are done the old fashioned way!

Another increase! It’s really my own fault, I could blame Mother’s Day, but I won’t lol I just need to get back into the swing of not eating junk all the time. It really is the laziness factor. It’s all the prep time, and just plain not feeling like doing it. So I have to get my butt into gear and quit my slacking, and that will start with buying ingredients again instead of processed foods already packaged and ready to eat! Time to hit the grocery store and get some ingredients!
I hit the 900 mile mark today! It felt awful, every mile hurt. I have been running outside on the weekends when my husband is home, and my new hillier surroundings are catching up with me. Oddly, though, when I am running outside, I want to keep going. Well, I have to keep going I guess – if I’m 6 miles from home there’s really no other option. Still though, I don’t hate it. On my Saturday and Sunday runs I actually listened to a historical fiction novel about Mary Shelley while RUNNING THROUGH A GRAVEYARD. #nerdgoals. So my outdoor runs were each slightly over 11 miles each, yesterday was a rest day, and today I was back on the dreadmill. Making the dreadmill even dreadlier was the fact that it is currently residing in my garage. Our movers couldn’t fit it through the door into the basement, and they wouldn’t take it apart without charging us an additional $400. The traveling husband promised that the treadmill would be relocated promptly to its intended location, but, as his title is “traveling husband,” there has hardly been time for that. So, let me paint this picture for you: Our garbage cans have, for reasons unknown to me, not yet been delivered to our new home. Thus, the garage is full of flattened moving boxes and bags upon bags of trash. In the midst of this heap is a treadmill with my precariously placed laptop, on which I try to watch “Parenthood” during my run without having a total panic attack that said laptop will fall from its perch onto the belt and into the wall. Oh, and there’s the fact that the move did something to my treadmill screen, so it only sometimes tells me how far I’ve gone. Otherwise, math is involved. No one wants to do math on a treadmill surrounded by aging trash at 5:30 in the morning. My life, ladies and gentlemen. The eating situation has been a DISASTER. My toddler’s birthday resulted in about a dozen leftover cupcakes, all of which I ate. In one sitting. With box wine. This was after a family party involving in-laws, so I’m gonna cut myself some slack there. We’ve also been eating a lot of pizza. Usually, I only consent to frozen pizza because the calorie count is conveniently listed on the box and I feel in control. But, maybe it is the move, or my days spent toddler-wrangling, or my husband who is only home weekends, or the fact that if I want to run I have to do it before dawn in a garage, or maybe just all of these things that have led to a total collapse in judgement and an embracing of Vocelli’s.I have not been on a scale. My clothes still fit, so I’ll go with that.

Short update for me this week. I only made it to the Gym once frown emoticon. It was a great visit though, went on a date with the boyfriend.
Mothers day was carb city, and I did my best to avoid it as much as possible but the Garlic bread called my name. I’m still paying for that!
I gained some of my weight back too. But that’s okay! This next week will be great!
So I am happy to announce that I was able to get back on track a bit this week. Eating a bit better despite the crazy schedule and making sure I put in some gym time. I also recently picked up The Rock Clock. Letting me wake up to The Rock singing (yes, singing) in the morning. It also comes with a daily video from The Rock for a little extra motivation which despite being a general message still seems to work as it is good to know you aren’t out there trying to do it alone. But enough about any man crushes I may have, back to the point, things are working and I am seeing some results again. I’m switching up my workout routine this coming week so we will see how things go.
Starting Weight: 215.6
Weight at the beginning of the week: 214.0
End of Week: 211.6
Starting weight: 213 (3/1)
Last week: 203 (4/29)
This week: 202 (5/6)
Goal weight: 190
It’s fun to see the weight drop slowly but steadily, but more importantly, I’m feeling better, and sleeping better. I again followed through with my plan to make it to the gym three times last week. On day 1, I lfted, focusing on chest, upper back, core, and legs. On day 2, I ran 2.2 miles on the treadmill and did 2.5 more on the stationary bike, both with increasing intensity during the workout. On Day 3 I lifted again focusing on arms, shoulders, core, and legs. We had a bye week for soccer on Mother’s Day, but I made good on my plan to make up for it by running 5 miles in the morning with my older brother. Plan is to stick with the general workout plan and continue to try to make healthy choices.
Today I learned, I’m one of the X-Men training mutants. My near brush with death from my cut on Sunday has left me with the knowledge I can now control the weather. Oh wait, wrong write-up, Since moving just over a month ago, I am trying to get into a new eating routine with local foods, and realizing that I need to replenish my water intake at least 2x as much each day. I promise, soon I’ll have fun pictures of where I am to share with everyone when I am going on hikes up the volcano I now live on. To be continued…
