I was making our Thanksgiving desserts up the night before we were going to have our dinner, and my littlest, 4 year old girl, came up to me and asked me if I could bake her an apple pie. Of course the only answer to that is, sure!
I *knew* how to bake apple pies, but I had no idea how much of stuff to put in.Pinterest to the rescue!! The Easy Apple Pie recipe came up!
Original link: Easy Apple Pie
- 6 (granny smith) apples
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbs cinnamon
- 1 tbs orange juice/lemon (not necessary, still works fine without it)
- 1 egg yolk (not necessary either, but nice to have)
- 2 frozen pie crust (no need to reinvent the wheel right?) – I suggest thawing them before starting!
Ready for super easy? Here it is! Cut up your apples, some people like slices in their pies,
I just cut them into little pieces. In another bowl mix up all the dry ingredients, I seem to remember another recipe I saw adding some flour to the mix so your pie isn’t runny. So I also added 1 tbsp flour, and a pinch of clove and nutmeg because they are yummy!
Mix your apples and your dry ingredients together, then pour them into one of the pie shells. Then you flip the other pie shell upside down over
your apples to make a lid. Pinch all the way around to seal the crusts together, and then you can cut little designs into the top if you want, or just slits so the steam can escape. If you decide to use it, use the egg yolk to wash the top of the pie, I skipped that step.
Bake the pie at 425F for 20 mins and then lower to 325F for another 20 and voila! Complete! You have a super lovely apple pie for dessert!
