I was cruising Pinterest looking for something to bring to a little church potluck, and brownies just seemed to fit perfect! Just what I needed to make for everyone!
Original recipe: Best Brownies Ever
- 1⁄2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 large eggs
- 1⁄4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1⁄3 cup cocoa powder
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 cup flour
Despite the title they gave their recipe, I did not think they were the Best Brownies Ever. I did however find them to be very delicious, and I would make them again in a heartbeat. Although next time I think I would add some chocolate chips or something to really make them super chocolate brownies. I also doubled the recipe and made a 9×13 inch pan, and then baked them almost twice as long, until a toothpick came out clean. I also used melted butter instead of vegetable oil, because I just really don’t like using vegetable oil!
Now that all my disclaimers are out of the way… mix the oil (butter) with the sugar, then add the eggs and vanilla. Mix your dry ingredients in a separate bowl, mix the two bowls together, until just mixed. You don’t want to over mix them. Pour into your pan and bake them at 350F for 20 mins if you do a 9×9 (or close) pan, or 35 mins (or until toothpick comes out clean) with the 9×13 pan. Once finished allow them to cool completely and then they will cut smooth.
