Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her family vacation their summers on their Grandfathers private island near Cape Cod. She hangs out with her cousins Johnny and Mirren and Gat who is the nephew of her aunt’s husband. After Cadence spends a summer with her father in Europe, she returns to the island trying to piece together what happened two years ago and why she suffers from a head injury and memory loss. With the help of the other children, Cadence remembers a large feud over who would get what in her grandfathers will and a fire that would change everything.
This book has a climatic ending which I will not spoil for anyone.
Final Thoughts: I was not the biggest fan of this book. It was not the story itself but the narrator, an unreliable one, really annoyed me. There was a pretentious overtone to the book and a love story in the text but there were some boring parts to the book.I also found a lot of the sentences confusing and the plot very light.
Even though it was not my cup of tea, it does not mean that a person who enjoys YA would not like it. But I would give the book a 4 out of 10.
