Thirty days, your way.
Let’s break this down, shall we?
It has been proven that a routine truly begins to take hold around the 21 day mark.
My nefarious *muhuhuhahahaha* plan is to get each of you to have as many 30 days as you can possible handle, and start, maintain, and KEEP those routines on into the next 30 day cycle. Oh yes, I am the diabolical one who wants you to not bail at the end of this thirty days, but rather create NEW routines to fit into your growing healthy paradigm.
Over the course of this month, I’m going to have different goal posts for people to aim their intended victories towards, so that the following months’ worth of 30-days will be a smooth transition, holding on to the new healthy achieved goal from the previous month(s), and moving into the next and so on.
I’m not a doctor. I have taken several college courses (and I don’t mean the online ones where you “pass” by submitting your damn email address to get spammed for the next umpteen years) and have had extensive time getting used to a healthy eating, physical activity, and creative method that makes a body live longer and better. That doesn’t mean I have all the answers. I might have like… 2% of the answers. Depending on the day. And if the answer is chocolate, it’s probably even greater in percentage points.
So what is this 30 days thing anyway? Do I have to buy some piece of plastic and wrap it around myself? Do I have to take some pill that is a miracle cure and will melt off all the last 20+ years of bad decisions because I believe in magic? NO. They are fake, they KNOW they are fake, and the people who are gullible enough to purchase those products are lying not only to themselves, but their wallets as well that they are possibly making an informed, intelligent decision. PLASTIC WRAPS DO NOT MAKE YOU SKINNY.
Thirty days YOUR way means simply that you choose how to begin to make rational choices for yourself and your body, in order to be better mentally, physically, emotionally, financially; you see where this is going, right?
I’m going to suggest (but that’s all it is) a variety of goalposts you can set up to achieve rational goals.
I don’t want anyone to make a claim they are writing a best seller, losing a buttload < get it? cause you’d be… fine. I’ll move on. > of weight, or anything of the sort. I want RATIONAL goals from you. I want you to actually attain them. Don’t set out to build Rome in a day people. I need you to start looking at the fact that building Rome took planning, food, hard labour, creativity, and it took TIME to make it what it became.
Here’s the thing, and I will turn my attention to the Creative aspect after this.
Genetics, medical conditions, and a host of other internal and external factors are all connected to how you will be in life. I’m not going to get into the different types of bodies here, but I will point out that many people don’t walk through life untouched by significant health issues. That will derail even the healthiest people. DO NOT judge yourself by how someone else looks. Beauty is not skin deep. It is real and tangible and unique to each being. Make healthy choices that are right for you.
Now, the Creative side of the Journey.
Be bold. Be strong. Be brave.
Take on a new challenge, and seek out how amazing it can be to dip your toes in the new waters of creative expression!
Maybe you’ve always wanted to learn how to do wood burning, or carving, or intarsias (pronounced in-tar-zgah). *pic below*
Perhaps you’ve wanted to start writing poetry, short stories, kid’s books, fan-fiction, your own autobiography, or the greatest science-fiction murder mystery series in the history of the written word. ((<< Shameless plug toward Trey’s and my NaNo LAST YEAR!! [so happy to be able to say that now it is finally Jauary 1, 2017]))
Maybe you’ve always wanted to learn how to knit, sew, macrame, crochet, cross-stitch, embroider, quilt.
Perhaps it was ink, pencil, pastels, or charcoals that were calling to you to learn calligraphy, nudes, still-life, etc.
Maybe it was the love of the camera’s moments that drove you to want to use your phone, camera, old school film and begin the process of doing photography.
Perhaps you find comfort in the clays and dirts and find ceramics and pottery a huge draw of attention and desire.
I could sit here listing all the possible options, but suffice to say you will want to find what sparks your interest and makes you want to participate fully.
Be it a Bullet Journal or baking cookies for a neighbour, find something that makes you smile.
Do that as much as you can, and tell others about it. Sharing happy moments isn’t selfish. In fact, it’s selfless to share what makes you happy (so long as that isn’t some sadistic… you get that it could mean negative things, but we need to trust 2017 won’t be like 2016, right? Okay, now that’s sorted, let’s ASSUME that what makes you happy isn’t the wanton destruction of the universe and move on, shall we?) with others, so they can become inspired to create as well.
I want everyone to do something that pushes their creativity to a new level. I want people to enjoy doing something. So if you find on day 12 that this really isn’t your thing, you’ve made a concerted effort, but don’t give up. Stick it out (in a healthy way!!!) until the end of the 30 days, and you will see that even if you didn’t find it all that wonderful as you might have hoped, you DID in fact learn something.
