Slow Cooker Root Beer Pulled Pork

My friend makes the most delicious pulled pork, it’s insanely sweet however so you don’t want to make this an every day event! But we decided to try our hand at it the other night. It turned out amazing! I’ll be looking up some healthier ways to make this because this is totally bad for you lol but it was yummy!

Ingredients:

  • approx. 1kg of pork loin (we just buy the two pack at the grocery stores here)
  • 1 2L bottle of root beer
  • 1/4 Cup brown sugar
  • 1 Med onion chopped
  • 1 regular sized bottle of bbq sauce of your choice ( we used Bulls-Eye Original)
  • 1 Tbsp of chilli powder
  • 1 Tbsp of garlic powder or a few cloves of fresh garlic minced

Start by cooking your pork on low for about 6 hours in the root beer, onion and garlic. Keep it cooking until the pork can be shredded with two forks. Once you can shred it use a strainer and drain the root beer off the meat. Return the meat to the slow cooker and add the rest of the ingredients, stirring well. Allow the meat to cook another hour (or less if you’re in a hurry). That’s it! Put it on a bun or just on a plate or whatever you’d like. Everyone here loved it, and there sure wasn’t any leftovers! Hopefully the healthier one we try next week will be as good haha
