Internet Friends and Their Quest for Health: Week 9


Hello everyone and welcome to week 9 in the quest of a few internet friends who are trying to get healthy! We want to motivate one another and help each other get on the right track by working out, eating right, and reaching a great state of mind in the process. Join us weekly as we share our personal journey’s and stats to show you all that if we can do it, so can you!

With this job I have been enjoying the cafeteria, which is awesome by the way! They have a full salad bar, a healthy foods section, and pizza. AND hoagies, and I am trying hard to resist. Today I did well, a very yummy salad. Yesterday I had a Philly Cheese Steak, and it was amazing but probably not worth the calories. Neither were the fries that went with it. Opps. But with falling down you must get back up.  I am trying to cut out all those wonderful carbs that I love. I feel more bloated and heavy when I eat them and I think in moderation it will be fine but I should not eat fries and hoagies every day. Well…maybe on Friday cheat day! I am very excited to say that I will be joining Zumba again! Work has a class every Tuesday and I cannot wait to start. I have also got the itch to join up Taekwondo again since my daughter is. I have to think on that one though!

Wow! March already! I have continued with a less junky diet this week, allowing all the water weight I was wearing to come off again.  Junk food really messes with me and I am hoping eventually I can get to the point where I remember that haha I did have some amazing chips and cream cheese dip, even a bit of vanilla cake this past week, but I am happy to report I did so within PORTION LIMITS!!! I didn’t even go back and get the rest! I am pretty proud of that achievement, I am usually a hey let’s eat the rest of the cake, who cares, kinda person.  Which of course got me into this mess in the first place! So happy to say I am down again, I have lost a total of 17.5lbs since we started. Still logging in MFP (Elyntia is my name) and following a “clean” diet. I know that means different things to everyone, but really it just is less junk, more fruit, veggies, meat, a little dairy, nuts, good fats etc…and doing the Biggest Loser Last Chance Workout a few times a week. So far it’s working well! I can’t wait to see how much I can get off by summer time! I have til the end of May to need new clothes for my birthday!

I did not get my 400 miles in by the end of February. Or the very beginning of March, for that matter. I did sleep in quite a bit and neglect my running duties, but I sincerely feel that my body needed it.
This challenge is wiping me out. I need a break but I don’t want to fall behind!!! Today I slept in and then ran during my kid’s naptime, which is something I never do. I prefer mornings, but this might be a good option for those days when I just cannot get out of bed!! I’m still ahead at this point. And sleepy. And really hungry for carbs. Diet – ha. I walk on the wild side. I laugh in the face of diets. Mwa ha ha ha. And then I cry because I threw dieting out the window, and because I now liberally quote children’s movies whenever the opportunity arises.
Hoping for better dieting next week and a better sleep/workout balance. Today I got some new running shoes and a fancy new Garmin running watch to further motivate me. Sorry, FitBit friends, but I’m switching teams.
